You can hear the Wellensian Consort on Radio 3 on Sunday 27th January 2013 between 5-6.30pm in Aled Jones' weekly choral programme 'The Choir'.
The 24 members of the Wellensian Consort have recorded four 'live' tracks in a small BBC studio in Cardiff. These are to be sumitted for the semi-finals of the international 'Let the Peoples Sing' choral competition. Adhering to the strict rules of the competition, no editing of the performances is allowed.
The Wellensian Consort are delighted to announce that they have been selected to represent the UK in the 'Let the People sing' international choral competition.Following a fiercely fought competition, BBC Radio 3 have selected 3 adult choirs to represent the UK in the semi-final of this prestigious competition. The Wellensian Consort will visit the BBC at their new base at the Hoddinott Hall in Cardiff to record their submission for this round of the competition.More details to follow...
The Wellensian Consort are delighted to announce that Nigel Perrin, internationally acclaimed choral director and former member of the Kings Singers, has agreed to become our Honorary Patron.
Nigel has been a vocal supporter of the Wellensian Consort from its formation in 2009. He is one of the UK's leading choral musician's and much in demand internationally as a conductor, coach and teacher. Nigel's full biography can be found here
The Wellensian Consort are delighted to have been asked to perform at the Cadogan Hall as part of the exclusive 'Choral at Cadogan 2011/12' Series.They are presenting a concert in celebration of the patron saint of music and will include Benjamin Britten's acclaimed masterpiece 'Hymn to St. Cecilia'.More details available here.
In November 2010 in recognition of their scintillating performance at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, the Wellensian Consort was awarded a place at the Choir of the Year 2010 Grand Final at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
