The Wellensian Consort returns to Wells.This accomplished choir, winners of the BBC Choir of the Year Award in 2010 is making a welcome return to perform the world première of a new work under their Director, Christopher Finch. After their competitive success the choir went on to perform at many of the UK’s top concert halls plus making TV and radio broadcasts.  The new work, celebrates the beauty of Exmoor and features the poetry of a fifth generation farmer which has been set to music by composer Marian Matthews. Marian’s opera ‘King’ has been featured on BBC 1 and she recently fulfilled a commission to compose the music for the funeral of a member of the Fiennes family. Incredible Jewel is a synthesis of classical and popular styles, set for choir and instrumental ensemble. Three movements contain elements of rock to create a rich exciting sound.Bring a picnic to eat on the lawns before or after the concert.Alcohol and glasses are not permitted, however there is a pay bar available. Tickets: £12available from the box office
